Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51M viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this is the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match series drew 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff performance after 2017.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
