Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
